For the breading:
3 pounds of Chicken Wings
1 egg, slightly beaten
¼ cup of Texas Pete Hot Sauce
¼ cup of Texas Pete Hot Sauce
1 cup of Self-Rising Flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 cup of vegetable oil for frying
For the Sauce:
3 tablespoons water
½ cup white vinegar
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
½ teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder and black pepper. Mix well. Set aside.
Mix together the egg and hot sauce.
Heat the oil in a large heavy bottom skillet over medium high heat.
Dip the wings in the hot sauce/egg mixture and then into the flour.
Fry the wings in the hot oil half of them at a time turning to brown all sides.
Place the wings on a FOIL LINED baking sheet. Mix together all of the sauce ingredients. Pour the sauce over the wings.
Bake in a preheated oven for 45 minutes basting every 10 minutes with the sauce.
**Make sure that you line your pan with foil and remove the foil and clean the pan before it cools completely or you will have a real mess.
