Keeping fresh cherries?

I just bought a couple of pounds of fresh cherries. Rinsed them off in a strainer and put them, in the strainer, in the fridge, uncovered.

Is that the best way to keep them for a week?

That's what I would do. Also go through them every now and then to get rid of ones that are beginning to spoil. In the future I think I would wait to rinse them until I am ready to eat them. Moisture is the enemy.

the preference is not to rinse them until just before use.... keep refridged, dry - rinse what you will be using/consuming "as needed" . . .

similar for many fruits. the water can spread bacteria around, resulting in 'premature loss of quality,' i.e. rotting (g)

We put them in a vinegar / water solution for a few minutes then rinse them off and put them in the fridge. The vinegar kills bacteria and bad stuff.

Ohhhhh, okay.

I will spread them out on a clean towel and to make sure they are dry before I put them back in.

They sure taste great!

Thanks, everyone!
