Went to a family style restaurant here in town for t-bone steak, jojo fries and garden salad.
Superb!

did that cabbage & black-eyed pea salad thingie + reheated end-of-stuffing
nice dish! got a wee bit creative - used red onion vs scallions and added an orphaned sprig of fresh broccoli.

I made two burgers with 80 / 20 beef. They were small; on small buns.
I like cheese melted on top, with a slice of raw onion and a small burp of ketchup. Funny thing, is the onion, I could not chew. The onions were like rubber. ( A medium Yellow Onion ).
Tina said,"They might be just boiling or frying / cooking onions!"

Lee, is that fried potatoes underneath?

Nope, Jimmy. As much as I adore starch (who doesn't?), most of the time, I don't have ANY starch on a plate, never mind TWO different starches.

The brown stuff next to the dogs is doctored-up sauerkraut, and there are red and white chopped onions in the little bowl.

... chewy onion

there is a known-since-dark-ages method for harvesting onions - they have to dry in the field for best storage life. with the current just-in-time and insta-everything trend, the established method appears to have been tossed.

I have noticed it's getting worse by the year. early in the season thru mid season - rubbery/gummy outer layers, especially at the top. 2-3 layers past any dry skin that may still be on the onion. later in the season as much as 50% of a 3 lb bag of onions will be rotting in the middle. I suspect they are not drying the onions enough prior to storage and/or not storing them at a good temp/humidity.

sometime about Feb I stop buying onions at Giant and buy them at Weiss - different packager at Weiss and so far I have decent luck avoiding the rotting onions at Weiss.

fwiw, btw, fyi, and all that.

Craig made meatloaf using his Italian meatball recipe. I made cheesy polenta and a simple red sauce with just garlic, red wine, and fresh basil, then with sauteed onions and mushrooms stirred in.

Had what we call "Mikes Casserole"

Ground beef, pork, mixed veggies, tomato sauce , cheese and muffins on top. Baked till bubbling.

I forced it down. It turned out gluey. Now it's blowing up in my stomach!... :readytoeat:
Here is a pic.
