Kabocha squash

I love acorn squash, but when my market didn't have any, I picked up one of these babies to try.

I cut larger squash into quarters, smaller ones in half. Then salt and pepper each, wrap each in foil and bake for 1 - 1 1/2 hours at 350.

MAN!

It is drier than acorn, great flavor and has the consistency of baked potato, and I top it with potato toppings.

Kabocha is my new favorite squash! :bounce:

once a year our market gets a batch of winter squash - haven't seen that one but try Delicata if you see it - it's oblong - also a good change up from acorn.

Yep, love Delicata, too.

But it can't beat Kabocha, IMO.
