Re: Grilled watermelons
I love watermelon, But sure can't see it taking the place of meat, no matter what you do to it. CF

Re: Grilled watermelons
I'm will to try that as well.
I got a nice cantelope at the commissary yesterday. If I see watermelon today, I'll get one. |
Re: Grilled watermelons
I've seen this done with honeydew also, but have never done it myself.:weber:

Re: Grilled watermelons
I'll try the cantelope tonight then.

Re: Grilled watermelons
Saw the Kitchen crew grill pineapple slices yesterday (old episode).
They served it over a grilled pound cake slice w/ whipped cream.... looked really good. And it did my heart good to see the crew all bundled up, with scarves, grilling outdoors ! I'll post the recipe in the outdoor cooking thread. |

John, did you ever get around to grilling the cantelope? I'm going to try watermelon today. Lee |
Re: Grilled watermelons
No, I never got around to it. My plans get changed just like the weather.
Once I grilled peaches and theywere excellent. |

Here's my photo. I glazed the watermelon with a mixture of honey, lime juice, salt and a little ancho chile powder. Garnished with a chiffonade of mint.
All sounds good, but it didn't work. None of us cared for it. For one thing, as other reviewers have mentioned, grilling the watermelon changes the texture of it; it gets mushier. Much better just plain sliced! Live and learn! Lee |
